Leading marine aluminium manufacturer goes camping

Telwater, manufacturer of Australia’s leading aluminium boat brands, Quintrex and Stacer, has launched its first range of camper trailers – Desert Edge Trailers.

The award winning manufacturer has drawn on its boat and trailer building expertise to establish the Desert Edge Trailers range that includes four models – Breeze, Breeze Deluxe, Oasis and Oasis Deluxe.

Telwater (Desert Edge Trailers) Chief Operating Officer Tim Atkins said the creation of the Desert Edge Trailers brand was a logical step for the company.

“We have specialised in building aluminium boats for over 20 years and in 2005 added steel and aluminium trailers to our product mix,” Tim said.

“Our aluminium expertise has enabled us to venture outside of the marine industry and establish the Desert Edge Trailer brand to offer customers a unique product made from marine grade aluminium for superior quality and a longer life.

“Our camper trailers are built to withstand off road conditions, are water and dust resistant, easy to set up and boast a two year limited factory backed warranty,” he said.

All four models measure 4.06 metres from the tow ball to the rear, 1.8 metres in width, fold down to 1.37 metres and with a fully erected tent stands at 2.75 metres.

The Breeze boasts an extensive list of standard features that are included on all models in the range.

Standard features include a fully welded hot dipped galvanised steel frame, marine grade tailer frame and body, propeller plate aluminium instead of checker plate for higher shine and strength, foam, automotive seal and sealants for water and dust resistance, independent rubber suspension, six stud land cruiser hubs, new tyres, lockable storage areas like key, marine LED tail lights and two rear wind down steadies.

The list continues with two 20 litre can holders, a 4kg gas bottle holder, gas strut internal access, eight inch swing up jockey wheel, extended draw bar and an easy to access hatch under a queen mattress.

The nine foot canvas tent comes standard with a waterproof zipp on and off annexe roof, five windows, two doors and No-See-Um mesh for full insect protection.

Both the Breeze and Breeze Deluxe have an aggregate trailer mass (ATM) of 700kg and extra standard features on the Breeze Deluxe include a 70 litre water tank, hand pump and lockable filler, lockable front storage, ‘Breeze’ style kitchen, spare wheel with steel rim, new tyre and a spare wheel mount.

Standard inclusions that set the Oasis apart from the Breeze include six external storage compartments, electric brakes, front storage hatch and painted trailer body.

Both the Oasis and its Deluxe version have an ATM of 1000kg with the Oasis Deluxe boasting the most standard features of all models.

These include a Hyland off road hitch, 15 inch new alloy wheels, ‘Oasis’ style kitchen featuring Smev appliances, gas cooker, tap and sink, water tank pressure pump, 15 inch alloy spare wheel and bracket, battery box and a 12 volt plug.
